Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Abdulkader Tayob’s research spans a wide spectrum of overlapping themes and fields. Based in Religious Studies, Tayob is well-versed in historical interpretations of early Muslim reformers, and well-known for his research on the dynamic forms of reception and appropriation of Islamic intellectual history and key thinkers among contemporary Muslim communities, especially in Africa. His research has set standards for the contemporary study of Islam in South Africa, and his approach was applied to the study of Muslim contexts in other countries in Africa and elsewhere. During his time in Germany, Tayob will work with colleagues at Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient on conceptual decolonization and the overcoming of Eurocentrism in scholarship and analytic language. |
